I'm currently sorting out major problems with my internet connection with Virgin Broadband, and they have some pretty whacky excuses as to what the problems may be caused by.

Having just gotten into Battlestar Galactica (the new-ish series that is) I now know what the perfect excuse they could use is. In the first episode, the Galatica and the fleet that comprises the remainder of humanity is assailed every 33 minutes by the Cylons. So every 33 minutes, they have to jump at faster than lightspeed to a new location and another 33 minutes of safety.

Apparently, Virgin's servers are a prime Cylon target.
