AKA The Last Night
That's right furs and murrs, this is my last night in my apartment in Balmain!
Starting tomorrow I'll be residing in co-habitation with Zwabbe in Bondi! Looking forward to it most grandly, even if he'll be at sea most of the time.
I look back on this shoebox in Balmain with a mixture of memories, mainly negative. The stupid fridge that could only go between frost or melt, the nasty little oven that refused to be cleaned properly, the peeling blue plastic crap on the drawers and cupboard, the lingering doubts and regrets about failed and never-were relationships that went on while I was here.
Have you tried messing around with someone in a room that feels like some ungodly teen hostel? I don't dig the rough and ready feeling, so for fuck's sake, fuck this place for fucking!
The wine stains from lonely binge drinking, the black marks on the wall from a belt whipped off quickly after a long day at work/school, the weird colouration under the ever leaking fridge.
The silly bitch across the hall with her hoard of cats and senility.
The shower that serves as the ark through which all bacteria and mould shall be restored in the event of nuclear holocaust.
The toilet with a seat that would never lift.
The curtains that sought the ground more often than they did my window.
HOWEVER...
To the people... like Aussie, Temba, Harley, Dustan, Lupie, Atpaw, Smacky, Zwabbe, Ranardath, Auri, Alex, Ivan, Barbary, Aaron etc. who have made my time here, and more importantly my time elsewhere, enjoyable, I'd like to thank you for making the process of living in such a dull, small and uninspiring dump worth it.
Here's hoping the best for myself (because I'm selfish) and the rest of you!

Hi everybody! My narcissism has been a little under the weather lately so I haven't been as eager to post, but with another article under my belt and nothing else to do I thought I'd write a quick something.
http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2 008/6/13/
Anyone who knows me will know I'm a mad Penny Arcade fan, and as much as it's their irreverent and at-times-offensive humour, it's also the mental flow from their writer, Jerry Holkins. His stated position on the inherent flaws of a numeric review is rapturous,
"We measure things so we can compare them to other things. The trouble is that everyone is performing a kind of mental arithmetic, cramming their own internal symbologies into this or that frame and stripping out wisdom in the process. Editorial voice is a fallacy. They're all conversions of interpretations of moments. And we lose crucial data at every step."
Otherwise, I just knocked out an article about a damning report of a bike path to be constructed in Redfern. It was amusing, gave me some insight into interacting with opposing community groups, and also tested my ability to make a 400 word story out of 1000+ words of news.
I'm also considering (close to 100%) moving into a place with a friend of mine and her partner in Marrickville. Lower rent, bigger premises, and easy access to trains. I have a reservation or two, mainly about how our personalities and how they'll interact, but $55 savings and a place I can swing a cat in (not that I endorse swinging cats) is something I can't pass up.
Went to a farewell party for some friends on Saturday night, one's leaving for France, the other for the UK. I'll miss France and I wish I'd gotten to know UK better. Oh well, que sera sera.
And people who aren't geeks won't get the reference, but I want MGS4 so bad at the moment.
